Islamabad: The toll tax rates for the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M2) have been increased by 10 percent, effective from Monday (today). This increase means that a standard vehicle traveling from Lahore to Islamabad will now pay Rs 1,210, up from Rs 1,100.
Commercial vehicles, including vans, trailers, and trucks, have seen an even steeper increase. The toll for a van on the M2 has been set at Rs 2,030, while the toll for a coaster has jumped from Rs 2,240 to Rs 2,840. For heavy vehicles, the toll for buses is now Rs 4,060, trucks Rs 5,280, and trailers Rs 6,780.
The increase is part of an annual 10 percent hike in accordance with a contract agreement with M/s Motorway Operations and Rehabilitation Engineering (Private) Limited, a subsidiary owned by FWO, signed on April 23, 2014. The agreement includes a provision for a 10 percent escalation in toll rates from the second operational year as part of the overlay and modernization of the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2) on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis for 20 years.
A spokesperson for the Motorway Authority confirmed that the new toll rates have been implemented across all interchanges on the M2 Motorway.
