Karachi: Employees of Pakistan Railways have taken the step of suspending train operations nationwide due to unpaid dues.
Their protest unfolded on a railway track at the Cant station, leading to the suspension of train services.
This action resulted in delays in the departure of various trains, including the Green Line and Rehman Baba, at the Cantt station.
Previously, Pakistan Railways had made the decision to modernize and commercialize railway stations with the aim of generating significant revenue on a large scale.
Caretaker railways minister Shahid Ashraf Tarar shared this plan while leading a meeting to assess the upgradation and commercialization strategy for Rawalpindi railway station in Islamabad.
Emphasizing the future significance of railway stations as vital commercial hubs, Shahid Ashraf Tarar conveyed that Rawalpindi Railway Station was currently undergoing improvements.
These enhancements are expected to make the station commercially viable and create substantial revenues for all involved stakeholders.
