Trump Administration Cancels 80,000 Non-Immigrant Visas Over Crimes and Political Views

The Trump Administration Cancels 80,000 Non-Immigrant Visas Over Crimes and Political Views, marking one of the most aggressive visa revocation campaigns in recent U.S. history. According to a senior U.S. State Department official, the cancellations were linked to offenses such as driving under the influence, theft, assault, as well as controversial social media activity and political opinions.

Reports by Reuters confirm that these actions are part of former President Donald Trump’s strict immigration policy, which also led to the deportation of several visa holders. Of the total revocations, around 16,000 visas were canceled due to drunk-driving cases, 12,000 over assault charges, and 8,000 related to theft—accounting for nearly half of all visa cancellations.

In August, the U.S. State Department disclosed that over 6,000 student visas were revoked for overstaying, violating visa regulations, and in some cases, allegedly supporting extremist activities. Officials also revealed that in recent months, political remarks on social media—especially concerning the murder of Charlie Kirk—prompted additional visa revocations.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated in May that “hundreds or even thousands” of visas had been canceled for individuals engaged in activities viewed as contrary to U.S. foreign policy.

Reports further allege that under the Trump administration, several students and Green Card holders who expressed support for Palestinians or criticized Israel were targeted. They were labeled as “unfriendly to America” or “pro-Hamas,” raising concerns about freedom of expression and political discrimination in visa enforcement.

Trump Administration Cancels 80,000 Non-Immigrant Visas Over Crimes and Political Views has thus become a defining example of the administration’s uncompromising approach to immigration and national security.
