Former President Donald Trump, the likely Republican presidential nominee, faced backlash after sharing a controversial video on social media. The clip depicted a hog-tied image of President Joe Biden displayed on the tailgate of a truck.
The Biden campaign swiftly condemned the video, citing concerns about the portrayal of physical harm to the sitting president. President Biden has consistently criticized Trump, highlighting his use of Nazi imagery in reference to migrants and emphasizing the role Trump played in the events leading to the Capitol attack of 2021, following his defeat in the 2020 election.
Michael Tyler, communications director for the Biden campaign, stated, “Donald Trump’s propensity for inciting violence demands serious attention, particularly in light of the Capitol attack where Capitol Police personnel were assaulted defending our democracy.”
In response, Steven Cheung, spokesperson for the Trump campaign, defended the video, stating, “The image in question was displayed on a passing truck. Democrats have a history of advocating violence against Trump and his family, and they continue to exploit the legal system against him.”
Donald Trump shared the controversial clip on his social media platform, Truth Social. The video featured a truck adorned with “Trump 2024” branding and the image of a bound President Biden prominently displayed on its back.
Previously, Trump had shared an image on social media depicting himself holding a baseball bat alongside a photo of District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
