Former U.S. President Donald Trump has said that Pakistan cannot be overlooked. He stressed the need to keep strong Pakistan-US relations active. In an interview with an American news outlet, Trump discussed the critical situation between Pakistan and India.
He said the two nuclear-armed nations were on the edge of a war. “The situation got so bad, it could have led to a nuclear conflict,” Trump explained. He shared that missile attacks were taking place, and the intensity was increasing. “Fighting was rising. Missiles were being fired with full strength,” he stated.
Trump pointed out that both countries are not small nuclear states. “These aren’t just any powers—they are strong nuclear forces,” he added.
Talking about Pakistan-US relations, Trump said his talks with Pakistani leaders were very positive. “We had great discussions with Pakistan,” he said. He added that both sides remained in touch through regular communication.
He said Pakistan wants stronger ties with the U.S., especially in the area of trade. “They are eager to trade with us,” Trump noted. He admitted that trade between the two countries is not very large, but diplomatic ties are still healthy.
Trump praised the Pakistani people. “They are smart. They create amazing products,” he said. He revealed that he directed his team to keep in contact with both India and Pakistan. “I told my staff to talk to both countries,” Trump stated.
Trump also pushed both sides to shift focus from war to business. “We told them—we should be trading,” he said. He made it clear that trade talks with Pakistan had started during his administration.
While speaking on other global matters, Trump said that Iran was looking for a deal with the U.S. He warned Russia of tough consequences if no settlement is reached in Ukraine. “If there’s no deal with Ukraine, Russia will face harsh sanctions,” he warned.
He brushed off claims about the Ukrainian president having any political advantage. “The Ukrainian leader has no ‘Trump card’,” he said.
Speaking about his diplomatic efforts, Trump claimed it as a major success. “This is a huge achievement—it should be recognized,” he said.
Trump’s remarks again put Pakistan-US relations in the spotlight. His emphasis on dialogue, trade, and diplomacy highlights the ongoing significance of U.S. ties with South Asia. Maintaining strong bilateral relations with Pakistan remains key, according to Trump’s views.
