MICHIGAN: Former President Donald Trump criticized the $355 million fine levied against him in his fraud case, expressing concern that the ruling could prompt businesses to relocate away from New York state.
Addressing a rally in Waterford Township, Michigan, Trump condemned Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron’s decision, which held him responsible for overstating his net worth to secure advantageous bank loans.
Trump vehemently maintained his innocence, arguing that the case lacked evidence of victims, damages, or defaults.
He portrayed the lawsuit, initiated by New York Attorney General Letitia James, as a Democratic scheme to undermine his presidency. Trump accused the legal system of persecution and cautioned against potential negative repercussions, including job losses and corporate exodus from New York.
He called on Congress to impeach President Joe Biden to counter what he viewed as the “weaponization” of the Department of Justice.
