WASHINGTON: Former U.S. President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, announced that he would take legal action against Google if he wins the November 5 election, claiming the company consistently showcases “bad stories” about him.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump provided no evidence to back his allegations, stating, “It has been determined that Google has illegally used a system to display only negative stories about Donald J. Trump, some fabricated for this purpose, while highlighting positive stories about” Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
“This is an illegal activity, and I hope the Justice Department will criminally prosecute them for this blatant election interference,” Trump added. “If not, I will seek their prosecution to the fullest extent of the law when I win the election and become president.”
Google has not yet commented on Trump’s statement.
Trump previously made similar accusations against Google in 2019, claiming that the search engine favored negative coverage of him during the 2016 presidential election, which Google dismissed at the time.
Recently, some of Trump’s supporters have reignited these allegations. In July, following an assassination attempt on Trump, billionaire Elon Musk suggested on X (formerly Twitter) that Google had imposed a search ban on him.
