Trump Visa Suspension for Pakistan, 74 Others Challenged in US Court

The Trump visa suspension for Pakistan and 74 other countries has been challenged in a US court, as civil rights groups moved to block the policy they say violates long-standing immigration rules.

A group of civil liberties organizations filed a lawsuit against the US State Department in a federal court in New York, requesting the court to immediately stop the decision and declare it unlawful.

According to the petitioners, the policy is damaging the stable framework of US immigration law built over decades, while also creating uncertainty for thousands of families and applicants waiting for immigrant visas.

The Trump visa suspension for Pakistan and other affected nations reportedly came into effect on January 21.

Besides Pakistan, countries impacted by the decision include Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bhutan, Bosnia, and several others.
