After the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan, large quantities of advanced American military equipment left behind have emerged as a serious threat to regional security. Fresh evidence suggests that these weapons are now being used in terrorist attacks inside Pakistan.
According to a report published by the international magazine The Geopolitics, the outlawed militant organization Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is actively using US-made weapons based in Afghanistan to target Pakistani security forces and civilians.
The report states that several recent terrorist incidents across different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa involved the use of advanced American weaponry. These weapons include M4 and M16 assault rifles, night vision devices, and other sophisticated military equipment, originally supplied to Afghan forces.
The Geopolitics further revealed that the total value of US weapons currently present in Afghanistan exceeds seven billion dollars. Much of this equipment has reportedly fallen into the hands of terrorist groups and criminal networks.
Investigations indicate that these US weapons are being sold openly in Afghanistan’s black markets, providing easy access to multiple militant organizations operating in the region.
Pakistan has repeatedly raised this issue at international forums, presenting concrete evidence that terrorist groups are launching cross-border attacks using American weapons left behind in Afghanistan. Despite these warnings, the lack of decisive action by the global community has raised serious concerns.
Security experts warn that militant groups operating with alleged support from the Afghan Taliban regime pose a growing threat not only to Pakistan but to the peace and stability of the entire region. They emphasize that continued global silence could further complicate the already fragile security situation.
