Two Pakistan Army Aviation pilots embrassed martyrdom on Monday after a training aircraft went down in Quetta district. The Quetta plane crash happened around midday near Nawan Killi, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The aircraft involved was a Mushshak, a trainer plane used by the army’s aviation wing. The military’s media wing said a technical fault caused the crash on 12th October 2026.
The ISPR identified the pilots as Major Husnain Shehzad Humayun, who was serving as the instructor pilot, and Captain Abdul Samad, a student pilot. Both were onboard the Mushshak training aircraft when it crashed.
The ISPR statement said the aircraft came down “due to a technical fault.” No further details about the nature of the malfunction were shared.
President Asif Ali Zardari expressed sorrow over the martyrdom of the two pilots. He offered his condolences to their families and shared in their grief.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also voiced deep sadness over the incident near Nawan Killi. In his statement, he conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for the martyrs to be granted high ranks and a place in the Almighty’s mercy. He also prayed that their families be given the strength to endure the loss.
The Quetta plane crash follows other aviation incidents in 2026. In June, a Mi-17 helicopter belonging to Pakistan Army Aviation crashed near Muzaffarabad as it was taking off, the ISPR reported at the time. Earlier in the same month, a Pakistan Air Force aircraft went down during a routine training flight in Mardan.
