At least two policemen were found to be involved in a robbery in a money exchange in Quetta on Thursday.
The scene played out on Sharah-e-Iqbal, where four armed individuals entered the establishment posing as officials from the Federal Investigation Agency. Threatening the staff with dire consequences, they demanded and made off with Rs1.8 million in cash.
In a twist of fate, the shopkeepers managed to apprehend one of the culprits while the others escaped. To everyone’s surprise, the detained individual revealed himself to be an on-duty police official stationed at Khaliq Shaheed police station. He disclosed that one of his partners in crime was also a fellow police officer, while the remaining two were civilians.
SSP Operations Tariq Minhas, confirming the police involvement, stated that the captured policeman had been handed over to the authorities after being subjected to a beating. The search is now on for the other three individuals involved in the robbery. The SSP emphasized a zero-tolerance stance towards corruption within the police force.
