The United Nations Security Council has strongly denounced the recent terrorist attack on a school bus in Khuzdar, located in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. The Council described the strike as “heinous and cowardly.”
This act of terrorism led to the tragic deaths of at least six people. Among them were four young schoolchildren. Another 53 people sustained injuries, with 39 of the wounded being children.
In a press release issued Thursday, the 15-member body expressed heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims. It also extended condolences to the people and government of Pakistan. The Council wished a full and swift recovery to all those who were hurt in the brutal strike.
The UN Security Council reaffirmed that terrorist attacks in all forms are among the gravest threats to global peace and safety. They emphasized that those responsible—including planners, supporters, and funders—must be held accountable. Justice, they stressed, must be served.
The Council urged all nations to actively cooperate with Pakistan. Their call included support in tracking down and prosecuting the criminals behind this deadly assault.
Members of the Security Council repeated their firm belief that terrorism, no matter the motive, place, time, or perpetrator, is always criminal and unjustifiable. They called this horrific incident a stark reminder of the need for united global efforts against extremist violence.
The Council also emphasized the importance of international law. They urged countries to fight terror by all means, while staying aligned with the United Nations Charter and laws governing human rights, refugees, and armed conflict.
