Upgradation of schools begins under PM Education Reform programme

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Friday has announced upgrading Punjgran Girls Model School to degree college level under Education Reform initiative.
The PM paid a visit to the Punjgran school to formally kick-start the reforms programme.
While addressing the students, Nawaz said that the government is dedicated to make transport facility available to the education seekers. For the purpose 200 transport buses have been allocated to the education sector.
He said that the programme aims at renovation of each and every facility in the schools including provision of potable water, up-to-date classrooms and play grounds. He vowed to have the education initiative reach nooks and corners of the country.
The PM severely criticised admissions without merit and directed the authorities to not compromise over merit at any cost.
A complaint cell has been established for parents and the authorities must welcome their suggestions, he added. Nawaz said that the initiative involves different languages learning programmes among other modern education elements.
Countless girls do not continue their education after primary level owing to lack of proper transport facility, he added. The government aims at bringing in students who are cut-off from the education process and streamline them in the flow.
Upon PM Nawaz s arrival, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) received the PM at the school.

Under the Education Reform initiative, at least 422 schools will be provided with the latest education system requirements. The programme will be completed over a span of eight to ten months while 21 schools will be upgraded in the first phase
