Authorities in Tank district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, have suspended the sale, purchase, and transportation of urea fertilizer for one month, citing ongoing security concerns in the area. The district administration confirmed the move in an official notification issued on Tuesday.
The notification stated that the restriction covers the buying, selling, stockpiling, and movement of urea fertilizer throughout the district, and comes in response to the prevailing law and order situation in Tank. Officials said the fertilizer ban will remain in effect for a period of one month from the date of issuance.
Directive Issued Under Instructions from KP Home Department
According to district officials, the decision was taken on the directive of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Department. Acting on these instructions, the Deputy Commissioner of Tank issued a formal notification enforcing the ban on urea fertilizer trade and transport across the district for the specified period.
Warning of Strict Action Against Violators
The administration cautioned that anyone found involved in the sale, purchase, delivery, or transportation of urea fertilizer during the restriction period would face strict legal action. Officials appealed to residents, fertilizer dealers, and traders to fully comply with the notification to help maintain peace and support the administration’s efforts.
Concerns Over Potential Misuse of Urea Fertilizer
Officials explained that the decision was driven primarily by the security situation in the district. They said the fertilizer ban aims to prevent the potential illegal use of urea and to help preserve law and order in the region. The restriction is expected to remain in place until the security situation is deemed to have improved, after which normal trade in urea fertilizer is likely to resume.
