US and UK congratulate new Pak PM Sharif

ISLAMABAD— United States of America and United Kingdom congratulated the Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, newly elected following the weekend ouster of Imran Khan through no trust motion.

The US Secretary of States Antony J. Blinken has congratulated the Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, adding the US looks forward to continues its cooperation with the government.

In a message released by the State Department, Secretary Blinked said the US values its relationship with Pakistan who has been an important partner for 75 years.

“Pakistan has been an important partner on wide-ranging mutual interests for nearly 75 years and we value our relationship,” the message reads.

The United States views a strong, prosperous, and democratic Pakistan as essential for the interests of both of our countries, said Blinken.

World leaders congratulate PM Shehbaz
The prime minister has been receiving congratulatory messages from world leaders since taking the oath.

The United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum congratulated the prime minister.

 

Saudi Arabia King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have also sent messages of congratulations to PM Sharif.

The United Kingdom Prime Minister Borris Johnson also congratulated the prime minister on his election.

In his message, Johnson said “the UK & Pakistan have a longstanding relationship and our people share deep ties.”

On April 11, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also congratulated Shehbaz Sharif saying India desires peace and stability in a region free of terror.

“Congratulations to H. E. Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on his election as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. India desires peace and stability in a region free of terror, so that we can focus on our development challenges and ensure the well-being and prosperity of our people,” tweeted Modi.

Shehbaz Sharif has become 23rd prime minister on April 10 after voted out Imran Khan.
