The United States Embassy in Israel has implemented travel restrictions for its personnel in response to recent drone attacks in Iran. The embassy issued a statement outlining the measures, aiming to ensure the safety of American diplomats amidst heightened security concerns in the region.
The decision to restrict certain trips comes as tensions escalate, prompting the embassy to take precautionary steps. Under these restrictions, US government employees and their families are prohibited from personal travel outside specific areas, including greater Tel Aviv (encompassing Herzliya, Netanya, and Even Yehuda), Jerusalem, and Be’er Sheva until further notice.
The embassy emphasized the dynamic security environment, warning that circumstances can change rapidly depending on political developments and recent events. It noted the possibility of further travel restrictions or prohibitions in response to security incidents, including in areas such as the Old City of Jerusalem and the West Bank.
Meanwhile, Australia has advised its citizens to consider leaving Israel if it’s safe to do so, citing a heightened threat of military reprisals and terrorist attacks against Israeli interests in the region. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade issued this advisory on its Smartraveller platform, cautioning about the potential for a rapid deterioration in the security situation.
