US–Iran Nuclear Talks Begin in Muscat as Delegations Arrive

MUSCAT: Talks between the United States and Iran are set to take place today as senior representatives from both sides have arrived in Oman for negotiations aimed at reviving dialogue on nuclear issues.

According to foreign news agencies, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff have reached Muscat to participate in the talks.

Reports said the US delegation also includes Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former president Donald Trump, who is accompanying Steve Witkoff during the visit.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that Abbas Araghchi will take part in nuclear negotiations with the United States this morning. The spokesperson said Iran is entering the talks with full authority, aiming for a fair, mutually acceptable, and dignified agreement.

Earlier, the US–Iran nuclear talks were scheduled to be held in Türkiye on Friday, but Iran later requested that the venue be shifted from Istanbul to Oman.

In addition to changing the location, Iran also demanded that regional partners should not be included in the negotiations and that discussions should remain strictly limited to nuclear-related matters.

So far, no official statement has been issued by the US side regarding the agenda or expected outcomes of the talks.
