US Prepares to Blockade Iran as Talks Collapse, Tensions Rise

The United States is moving forward as it prepares to blockade Iran, marking a sharp escalation after crucial talks failed to produce any agreement. The decision comes just days after a fragile ceasefire had raised hopes for calm in the region.

Negotiations held in Islamabad were the first direct high-level talks between the two sides in years. Despite long discussions, both countries walked away without a deal. Soon after, Washington signaled a tougher stance, with officials confirming that the US prepares to blockade Iran by targeting maritime traffic linked to Iranian ports.

The planned blockade is expected to begin immediately and will affect ships entering or leaving Iranian coastal areas. However, vessels heading to other countries through the Strait of Hormuz are not expected to be stopped.

US President Donald Trump also warned that any ship paying fees to Iran could be intercepted in international waters. He further said the US Navy would act against threats in the region, including clearing mines placed in key shipping routes.

This move has already shaken global markets. Oil prices jumped sharply as fears grew over supply disruptions, since the Strait of Hormuz handles a major share of the world’s energy shipments.

Iran reacted strongly, warning that any military presence near the strait could be seen as a violation of the ceasefire. Officials in Tehran accused the US of making unrealistic demands, especially over its nuclear program and regional policies.

Meanwhile, shipping activity has slowed down, with many oil tankers avoiding the area ahead of the blockade.

Despite the rising tensions, US officials say diplomacy is still possible. However, the situation remains uncertain, and the decision as the US prepares to blockade Iran could push the region closer to a wider conflict.
