Washington: US President Donald Trump has opposed Israel’s control over the occupied West Bank, stressing that stability in the region is essential for Israel’s long-term security.
According to foreign media reports, a White House official said President Trump does not support Israeli control of the West Bank and believes that stability in the Palestinian territories will ensure Israel’s safety. The official added that peace and stability in the region align with America’s broader objective of regional peace.
Meanwhile, the British government strongly condemned the Israeli cabinet’s decision to expand control over the West Bank. In an official statement, the UK said any attempt to unilaterally alter the geographical status of Palestine is unacceptable.
The statement further warned that such actions would be in violation of international law and urged Israel to immediately withdraw its decisions related to the expansion.
Separately, Pakistan and eight other Muslim countries issued a joint statement strongly condemning Israel’s actions in the occupied West Bank. The countries called on the international community to intervene and stop what they described as dangerous and illegal measures.
The joint statement said Israel has no sovereign rights over occupied Palestinian territories, adding that recent actions are accelerating efforts toward illegal annexation of the West Bank and the forced displacement of Palestinian people.
