WASHINGTON: The United States voiced concerns regarding Pakistan’s social media restrictions. Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the US State Department, emphasized the importance of a transparent investigation into irregularities observed during the Pakistan general elections.
He underscored the need for Pakistan to uphold freedom of speech and ensure immediate access to social media for its citizens. Miller reiterated that during engagements with Pakistan, the US will consistently advocate for the respect of fundamental rights.
Furthermore, the US clarified on Tuesday its stance of non-interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs, emphasizing the importance of a transparent investigation into any alleged rigging or fraud in accordance with Pakistani law.
Miller expressed optimism about the ongoing process of government formation in Pakistan.
