US repeats mantra of do more, asks Pakistan to prosecute Saeed

Hafiz Saeed

WASHINGTON: The United States (US) has repeated its stance calling Pakistan to prosecute Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed.
The statement regarding Saeed — the accused mastermind behind the 2008 Mumbai attacks — was issued by a spokeswoman of the state department in a press briefing.
The statement added that the US had sent a message to Islamabad to conduct precise operation against Saeed and prosecute him to the fullest extent of law.
Pakistan has been made aware of the US’ reservations, it read.
The United Nations sanctioned Saeed over his role in terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba, which was allegedly responsible for carrying out the Mumbai attacks in 2008 that killed 166 people.
The spokeswoman in her statement also said that the US expected that Pakistan should do a lot more to address the issue of terrorism.
