US Response to Iran 14-Point Plan Raises Doubts as Tensions Continue

Esmail Baghaei

The US response to Iran 14-point plan has added a new layer of uncertainty to already tense relations between the two countries. Iran says it received Washington’s reply through Pakistan and is now reviewing it in Tehran.

Officials in Iran confirmed that the message is under careful consideration. However, the United States has not publicly confirmed sending any formal response. President Donald Trump has already signaled strong reservations, calling the proposal unacceptable in a recent interview.

According to Iranian sources, the plan includes demands for the US to pull its forces away from Iran’s borders and end its naval blockade. It also calls for stopping ongoing military actions in the region, including Israeli operations in Lebanon. The proposal pushes for a full agreement within 30 days and stresses the need to end the conflict instead of extending the ceasefire.

The US response to Iran 14-point plan comes at a time when both sides remain far apart on key issues. Iran has made it clear that there are no ongoing nuclear negotiations at this stage. Tehran continues to insist that its nuclear program is peaceful, despite ongoing concerns from Washington over uranium enrichment.

Meanwhile, Trump announced a new move to support ships stuck in the Strait of Hormuz. He said the US will ensure safe passage under a plan called “Project Freedom.” He also warned that any attempt to block or interfere with shipping would face a strong reaction.

Shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz have been under pressure since the conflict escalated earlier this year. Iran has restricted movement in the area, while the US has increased its naval presence and enforced restrictions on Iranian ports.

Earlier, Trump confirmed that Washington had received Iran’s proposal but questioned its seriousness. He suggested that Iran had not faced enough consequences yet, showing clear doubt over the deal.

The US response to Iran 14-point plan highlights the ongoing trust gap between the two sides, with no clear sign of a breakthrough anytime soon.
