WASHINGTON: US Secretary of defence Lloyd J Austin and Pakistan’s Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir had a telephonic conversation, in which they discussed mutual interest and recent regional developments.
According to a statement issued by US Department of Defence, the US secretary of defence, said that the US and Pakistan have a long-standing defence cooperation and that he was looking forward to working with General Munir.
“Today, I had the opportunity to congratulate General Asim Munir, Pakistan’s newly appointed Chief of Army Staff,” the US defence secretary said in a statement.
The two military leaders discussed areas of mutual interest as well as recent regional developments, the statement added.
