ISLAMABAD: President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Pakistan on a two-day official visit, during which a series of high-level meetings and agreements across multiple sectors are expected.
The Uzbek president’s aircraft landed at Nur Khan Air Base, where he was warmly received by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Children dressed in traditional cultural attire presented bouquets to the visiting dignitary during the reception ceremony.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar Khan, senior civil and military officials, and members of the diplomatic corps were also present at the airport.
During the visit, President Mirziyoyev will hold important talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, focusing on bilateral relations, trade, investment, regional connectivity, energy, transport, and other areas of mutual cooperation.
Several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and agreements are expected to be signed between Pakistan and Uzbekistan to strengthen cooperation in various sectors.
The Uzbek president will also meet President Asif Ali Zardari separately, where discussions will cover regional developments and matters of shared interest.
