Veteran Actor Shujaat Hashmi Passes Away in Lahore

LAHORE: Renowned Pakistani film and television actor Shujaat Hashmi has passed away in Lahore after a period of illness.

According to his family, the funeral prayers will be held tonight at 9 PM at Jamia Naeema.

Shujaat Hashmi won the hearts of viewers with decades of stellar performances. He was a prominent figure in Pakistan Television’s golden era, gaining widespread fame for his role as Moladad in the classic drama series Waris.

Hashmi began his acting career in the 1970s with PTV dramas, starting with Kohar. His first Punjabi film, Chhad Baray Di Yaari, was released in 1975, and he later starred in the 1979 film Khaak Aur Khoon in a leading role.

For his remarkable contributions to the performing arts, Shujaat Hashmi was awarded the Pride of Performance in 1994. His work continues to be celebrated by fans and colleagues across the country.
