Former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan wife Bushra Bibi has broken her silence for the first time, addressing journalists in Adiala Jail after the hearing of the illegal marriage case.
In a defiant manner, Bushra Bibi declared, “If I’ve been sent to Bani Gala under some agreement, nullify the deal and put me in jail.” She expressed suspicion, stating, “It feels like this is a deliberate plan to disgrace me.”
Describing the restrictive conditions she faces, Bushra Bibi emphasized, “My house has been transformed into a prison; it’s not a hotel.” Defending her integrity, she asserted, “We are not cowards; we are genuine people who have not committed any wrongdoing in life.”
Sharing insights into her situation, Bushra Bibi mentioned, “A person has come to jail for self-arrest, and what can happen.” She lamented the conversion of her home into what she described as a jail, asserting, “Our faith is strong, and we stand here because of faith.”
Recounting her journey to Adiala Jail, she revealed the confusion surrounding her situation, stating, “I was told that I was being taken to a small rest house.” Despite acknowledging the involvement of multiple individuals in negotiations, she expressed determination, saying, “I am not a weak woman.”
Addressing the allegations against her, Bushra Bibi firmly stated, “False accusations have been made against me.” She condemned actions aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the party’s founder and weakening its morale.
Closing her remarks with a reference to religious teachings, she quoted, “In the Holy Qur’an, Allah has hated the hypocrite and the devil. Goodness is not in the beard and the veil.” Bushra Bibi’s candid statements provide insight into her perspective amid the legal and public scrutiny.
