NEW YORK: WhatsApp has unveiled a new feature designed to streamline online payments for its users by integrating a Unified Payment Interface (UPI) QR code scanner directly into chat lists.
The latest update, version 2.24.7.3, introduces the UPI QR code scanner, facilitating secure money transfers without navigating through multiple screens or complex steps.
Previously, there were rumors about this feature’s development, initially believed to enhance convenience by enabling easy QR code sharing. However, the feature functions differently, allowing users to scan UPI QR codes directly from chat lists.
According to WABetaInfo.com, this integration not only saves time but also enhances user experience by simplifying the scanning process.
Currently accessible to select beta testers who update to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android via the Google Play Store, the feature is set to roll out to more users in the near future.
