Meta’s widely-used messaging platform, WhatsApp, is preparing to bolster user security with an upcoming update, as reported by WABetaInfo.
This forthcoming feature, currently in the works, aims to offer users a robust toolset to enhance account protection with added security measures.
The new security checkup screen is designed to simplify the process of reviewing and strengthening account security. Users will soon have the ability to set up a passkey for logging in using biometric data or screen lock, providing an extra layer of defense against unauthorized access.
Moreover, the update will introduce an option to link an email address to a WhatsApp account. This addition will facilitate account recovery in situations where users cannot receive SMS verification codes. The checkup screen will also encourage enabling two-step verification, offering heightened security with a personalized six-digit code.
The goal of this new security checkup feature is to consolidate all essential security options into a unified, user-friendly interface. By centralizing various security settings, the feature aims to simplify user engagement and effective management of security preferences.
Since the feature is still in development, users can anticipate its rollout in a future update, reinforcing WhatsApp’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding user accounts.
