Field Marshal Asim Munir received a grand welcome in the United States, with his arrival marked by a digital campaign on the world-famous Times Square in New York City. His visit, lasting one week, is reportedly on the invitation of the top U.S. military leadership.
The Times Square display features vivid visuals of Field Marshal Asim Munir beside the national flag of Pakistan. The video tribute also includes his meetings with U.S. senators and heartwarming moments with Pakistani children. It reflects a vision of Pakistan as a forward-looking country, committed to peace, education, and technological progress.
The campaign is running throughout the week. It was organized by the local U.S. administration to recognize Field Marshal Asim Munir for his leadership, especially during the recent military tensions with India. His promotion to the historic rank of Field Marshal last month has only added to his growing international stature.
In anticipation of his Washington meetings, General Michael Kurilla of the U.S. Central Command praised Field Marshal Asim Munir and the Pakistan Army. Speaking before the House Armed Services Committee, he described Pakistan as “a phenomenal partner” in counterterrorism efforts. Kurilla specifically highlighted Pakistan’s cooperation in hunting down Daesh-Khorasan operatives.
According to the general, Pakistani intelligence helped eliminate dozens of militants. He revealed that five high-value terrorists had been captured through this cooperation. One of them was Mohammad Sharifullah, also known as Jafar, accused of planning the deadly Kabul airport blast in 2021. Kurilla recalled how Field Marshal Munir personally informed him of Jafar’s capture. “I’ve caught him,” Munir reportedly said. “I’m willing to extradite him to the U.S. Inform the Secretary of Defense and the President.”
Meanwhile, in Dallas–Fort Worth, the Pakistani community hosted a separate welcoming event under the banner “Stand with Pakistan.” A grand dinner reception took place in honor of Field Marshal Asim Munir.
The gathering was attended by Pakistan’s Consul General Aftab Chaudhry, Texas State Assembly Member Terry Meza, and key community members. Addressing the attendees, Consul General Chaudhry emphasized the Pakistan Army’s brave response to Indian aggression under the command of Field Marshal Asim Munir.
He said the military leader’s invitation to attend the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary shows the strength of Pak-U.S. ties built over decades. In her speech, Assembly Member Terry Meza voiced her solidarity with the Pakistani, Kashmiri, and Sikh communities. She proudly declared her support for values like peace and justice.
Meza criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him a leader with an extremist mindset. She said such thinking spreads hate and divides people. According to her, the world needs inclusion, not hatred, and she remains committed to standing against extremism in all forms.
