ISLAMABAD: Former national cricket team captain Younis Khan has voiced deep concern over the declining infrastructure of Karachi, once renowned as the “City of Lights.”
In a heartfelt appeal, Younis criticized the neglect of Karachi’s roads and traffic system, drawing a stark comparison between the city’s current state and the ancient ruins of Mohenjodaro. He reminisced about a time when Karachi’s roads were well-maintained and the city’s infrastructure was in better condition.
Younis expressed frustration over the frequent destruction of newly built roads, which he attributes to poor planning and management. “The traffic system is in disarray, and citizens are also failing in their responsibilities,” he remarked, noting that many contribute to the city’s decline by neglecting their civic duties.
He cited a troubling example of children observing adults casually chewing Pan Gutka, an unhealthy habit that sets a poor precedent for the younger generation.
In his emotional plea, Younis Khan called on the authorities to reflect on their actions and act before it’s too late. “We all have to answer to Allah,” he warned, urging those in power to address these issues promptly and take responsibility.
