At least 23 police Personnel were injured during a clash with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters on the Ghazi Barotha Bridge, police officials confirmed on Monday.
The injured officers were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention, according to authorities. The confrontation reportedly erupted when a convoy, allegedly accompanying PTI leader and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, clashed with police personnel late at night.
Police stated that the convoy attempted to cross the bridge in defiance of security restrictions, leading to the violent encounter. Additional forces have since been deployed to stabilize the situation and ensure law and order.
An investigation is ongoing to identify those responsible for inciting the violence. Authorities have pledged strict legal action against all involved.
