ISLAMABAD: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Saturday that a major operation in Balochistan led to the elimination of 23 terrorists, while 18 soldiers were martyred in the process. The terrorists were attempting to block roads in Mangochar and Kalat between the night of January 31 and February 1.
According to the ISPR statement, the security forces successfully thwarted the terrorists’ plans, ensuring that no locals were harmed in the operation. The terrorists aimed to disrupt the peaceful environment of Balochistan by targeting civilians. The forces also conducted another operation in Harnai, eliminating 11 terrorists. The ongoing security operations in the region are part of the continuous efforts to combat terrorism.
A security operation is still underway in the Mangochar area of Kalat to ensure the area remains secure.
President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the terrorist act in Kalat and expressed his condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers. He praised the bravery of the security personnel and reaffirmed that Pakistan would continue to fight against terrorism. “The martyred personnel displayed remarkable courage. Terrorists are trying to disrupt peace in Balochistan, but our security forces will persist in suppressing such elements,” he said.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also condemned the attack, noting that 12 terrorists had been brought to justice. He expressed his condolences to the families of the martyrs, highlighting the sacrifices made by the security forces for the peace of the country.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack as well, acknowledging the efforts of the security forces in preventing the terrorists from carrying out their malicious plans.
