Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has delivered 10 newly acquired armored vehicles for KP Police, aiming to give the force stronger operational capacity as it carries out counterterrorism operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The vehicles had originally been bought for the Islamabad Police on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. They were redirected to KP as terrorism-related incidents continue to rise in the province.
Why the Vehicles Were Sent to KP
The armored vehicles are expected to give police personnel better protection during counterterrorism operations. They should also make it safer for officers to move through high-risk areas.
The transfer comes at a time when the provincial police are facing mounting pressure from militant activity, and the federal government says it wants to equip them for the task.
Naqvi Says Fight Against Terrorism Is a National Responsibility
Speaking on the occasion, Naqvi said the battle against terrorism was a collective responsibility of the whole nation. He reaffirmed that the federal government stood firmly behind the KP Police.
He assured the force that Islamabad would offer every possible form of cooperation to root out terrorism and safeguard the lives and property of citizens.
The interior minister added that backing law enforcement agencies and other relevant institutions remained one of the government’s top priorities. This support, he said, was aimed at maintaining peace, ensuring public safety and eliminating terrorism.
