The funeral prayer for the mother of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir was held at Race Course Ground in Rawalpindi. The Army Chief himself led the prayer.
Senior government officials and political leaders attended the ceremony to express their condolences. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and PML-N President Nawaz Sharif were present. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also participated.
In addition, Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani and National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq attended the funeral prayer. Former army chiefs, including General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa and General (retd) Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, were also present. Top military officials and other dignitaries paid their respects to the bereaved family.
Before the funeral, President Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz extended their heartfelt condolences. They expressed deep sorrow and prayed for the departed soul. The President assured General Asim Munir that he shared his grief in this difficult time.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also offered his condolences. He prayed for the deceased’s high rank in the hereafter and strength for the grieving family. Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, expressed his sorrow as well. He prayed for divine mercy upon the late mother of the Army Chief.
The funeral gathering reflected unity among political and military leadership. Leaders from all sides stood together to support General Asim Munir in his moment of loss.
