In a deeply distressing incident, the bodies of three premature infants were found in a refuse pit in Block ‘J’ of Karachi’s North Nazimabad area.
Local authorities promptly responded to the scene, located near Farooq-e-Azam Mosque in North Nazimabad, and initiated efforts to collect CCTV footage from the surrounding area.
Initial investigations indicate that this incident may be linked to miscarriages, as the bodies were found to be underdeveloped, according to the police.
The discovered remains have been transferred to a hospital for DNA testing to further probe the circumstances surrounding this tragic discovery.
Simultaneously, another disheartening incident unfolded as the body of a premature baby was found abandoned in a garbage bin within a washroom at a private hospital in North Nazimabad.
Hospital staff made this heart-wrenching discovery while sorting through discarded waste.
The hospital promptly reported the incident to local authorities, leading to the hospital administration initiating legal proceedings.
The woman involved, identified as Maryam, had initially visited the private hospital for a routine check-up. However, shortly before undergoing an ultrasound examination, she abruptly left the hospital premises, as captured by CCTV footage.
The footage revealed two women, both wearing burqas, departing the facility in a rickshaw. Prior to her sudden departure, Maryam had entered the hospital’s washroom, where the prematurely born baby’s body was later discovered.
Law enforcement authorities have declared that a case will be registered against those responsible in accordance with the law.
