Brazil has secured its place as the host nation for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, a historic first for a South American country.
The decision was reached at the FIFA Congress held in Bangkok, Thailand, where Brazil’s bid garnered an impressive 119 votes, surpassing the joint bid of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany, which received 78 votes.
Brazil’s successful bid follows a thorough evaluation process, with FIFA’s technical assessment awarding Brazil a score of 4 out of 5, ahead of its European competitors. Evaluation criteria included commercial viability, team facilities, accommodation, broadcast sites, stadiums, and fan festival venues.
The upcoming tournament, the 10th edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, will see Spain defending their title, joining esteemed past champions such as the USA, Germany, Japan, and Norway.
President of the Brazilian Football Confederation, Ednaldo Rodrigues, expressed gratitude, stating, “This victory is a triumph for women’s football worldwide.
