Islamabad: The accountability court overseeing the cases of former first lady Bushra Bibi, involving the Toshakhana case and the 190 million pounds Al-Qadir Trust scandal, has decided to extend the court proceedings until November 15.
The development transpired during a hearing presided over by Accountability Court of Islamabad judge Muhammad Bashir, where the focus was on Bushra Bibi’s bail appeal related to the Toshakhana and the 190 million pound scandal.
During the hearing, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor informed the court that this was Bushra Bibi’s third attempt to secure bail, as her previous two bail pleas had been rejected.
The NAB representative argued that there was no necessity for Bushra Bibi’s arrest and that her current bail plea was based on the same grounds as before.
Bushra Bibi’s legal counsel appealed to the court, requesting at least prior notification in such matters. In response, the investigating officer from NAB presented his statement, asserting that Bushra’s arrest was unnecessary.
In reaction to this, the accused’s lawyer contended that efforts were being made to file additional cases against Bushra Bibi.
Ultimately, the accountability court in Islamabad decided to extend Bushra Bibi’s bail until November 15, postponing any further hearings in both cases involving her.
