ISLAMABAD: Iran has expressed readiness to engage in a second round of negotiations with the United States, naming Pakistan as its preferred venue for the talks.
According to Iranian officials, Tehran is fully prepared for dialogue. However, they added that it remains unclear whether the United States is equally ready to proceed.
Speaking to media, the officials said that if a second round of negotiations takes place, Pakistan would be their top choice. This development comes amid increasing speculation about renewed diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that delegations from both countries may soon arrive in Islamabad. A report by Reuters, citing sources, indicated that fresh talks could be held in the Pakistani capital later this week.
In addition, an official from the Iranian embassy in Pakistan confirmed that the next phase of negotiations could take place either this week or early next week.
Earlier, a US-based news agency quoted Pakistani officials as saying that Islamabad has already offered to host the second round of talks between Iran and the United States.
If confirmed, these talks could mark a significant step forward in easing tensions between the two countries, with Pakistan playing a key diplomatic role.
