ISLAMABAD: Following the recent general elections held on February 8, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has released the updated party positions in the National Assembly, now including allocated reserved seats.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) emerges as the leading party with 107 seats in the assembly, comprising 84 general seats and 23 reserved seats, including nineteen for women and four for minorities.
Following closely is the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) with 81 general seats, pending review by the ECP for reserved seats. A decision is expected by Monday; otherwise, the remaining 25 seats will be redistributed among other parties.
According to the list of the ECP party positions in the National Assembly he Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) follows with 68 seats, consisting of 54 general seats and fourteen reserved seats, of which 12 are for women and 2 for minorities.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) holds twenty-two seats, including 17 general seats and five reserved seats for minorities and women.
Other parties include Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan-Fazl (JUI-F) with seven seats, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) with five, and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) with four.
Additionally, Pakistan Muslim League-Zia and Balochistan National Party (BAP) each secured one seat in the National Assembly.
Independent candidates hold 8 seats without party affiliations.
Notably, elections were not conducted in one constituency, and notifications for two National Assembly seats are pending from the Election Commission of Pakistan.
The Sindh assembly is set to administer the oath to newly appointed members today (Saturday) at 11 am.
