PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has announced a reward of Rs5 million for Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem.
Speaking at an event, CM Gandapur emphasized the provincial government’s commitment to promoting sports in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighting the importance of steering the youth towards sports instead of harmful activities like drug use.
The chief minister further stated that he will personally fund the prize money for Arshad Nadeem, calling him a source of pride for Pakistan. “We will invite Arshad Nadeem to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to train our youth in the javelin throw,” he added.
Previously, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had announced a Rs150 million reward for the Olympian.
In a separate event at the Sindh Governor House, held to celebrate Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day, Arshad Nadeem expressed his joy at the overwhelming welcome he received from the people of Karachi. The Olympic gold medalist thanked the crowd and said, “I am very happy to see such a big crowd in Karachi. If I get the javelin now, I will break another record.”
Both Arshad Nadeem and Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori also extended their Independence Day wishes to the nation.
