Former caretaker interior minister Sarfraz Bugti has officially declared his affiliation with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) during a ceremony in Turbat.
The announcement took place in the presence of former president Asif Ali Zardari, who visited Turbat for a daylong event, attending the party’s workers’ convention on Monday.
Sarfraz Bugti, who resigned as caretaker interior minister a week before the formal election announcement, had made this decision about two months ago to actively participate in the upcoming general elections.
He submitted his resignation ahead of the election schedule. Notably, Bugti’s father, Mir Ghulam Qadir Masori, an elder of a sub-clan of the Bugti tribe, was known to be a leader of the People’s Party.
