Shahrukh Ali, the Director General of the Capital Development Authority, announced that Galiyat Valley has welcomed a record-breaking 1 million eco-tourists this year.
He highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering sustainable tourism practices that not only drive economic growth but also preserve the region’s unique environment and cultural heritage.
In an interview, Ali detailed the initiatives aimed at enhancing eco-friendly tourism in Galiyat. These include the construction of modern parking facilities and the registration of over 50 hotels and guesthouses to ensure high-quality services for visitors. This effort seeks to standardize accommodations, boost the local economy, and increase transparency within the tourism sector.
The theme for this year’s World Tourism Day, “Tourism and Peace,” emphasizes the role of tourism in promoting international understanding and cultural exchange. Ali expressed hope that these initiatives would further enrich the tourist experience while encouraging responsible tourism practices aligned with global sustainability goals.
The authority’s efforts are anticipated to create job opportunities and support local businesses in the area.
