ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad’s district and sessions court on Tuesday acquitted the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan in two criminal cases.
Judge Shaista Kundi granted the PTI founder’s request for exoneration in cases related to the long march and vandalism, which had been filed by the Sihala and Lohi Bher police.
Advocate Naeem Panjutha presented arguments before the court, contending that the cases against the former PTI chief were primarily based on presumptions rather than concrete evidence of intent.
He pointed out numerous flaws in the prosecution’s case, including the lack of witnesses and statements, and highlighted instances where cases were filed by individuals without proper authority.
Upon inquiry from the court regarding the founder’s previous acquittals, the lawyer confirmed that there had been previous instances. Consequently, the court acquitted the PTI leader in both cases.
