Mumbai: Former Indian cricket all-rounder Yusuf Pathan has announced his entry into the realm of politics.
As per reports from Indian media outlets, Yusuf Pathan, a former member of the Indian cricket team, is set to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as a candidate representing the Trinamool Congress (TMC) from Berhampur.
The announcement came from party leader Mamata Banerjee, who unveiled the list of candidates for all 42 seats in West Bengal, including Yusuf Pathan’s name.
Yusuf Pathan’s brother, Irfan Pathan, took to social media platform X to extend his congratulations and best wishes to him for his political journey.
It’s noteworthy that the Lok Sabha elections in India are scheduled to take place in different phases in April and May, with formal announcements expected to be made later this week.
Yusuf Pathan, known for his contributions to Indian cricket, represented the nation in 57 One Day International (ODI) matches, scoring 810 runs at an average of 27. He also played 22 T20 International matches, accumulating 236 runs.
