ISLAMABAD: KAMTECH, Khyber Academy for Media Technologies, hosted a comprehensive Faculty Training Workshop for faculty members of Iqra University Islamabad, providing educators with a practical and immersive experience of the professional broadcast environment.
The workshop was designed to strengthen the connection between academic learning and the realities of the media industry. Through a hands-on approach, the participating faculty members were given an opportunity to explore the working environment of a professional television network and understand how newsroom concepts, production techniques and broadcast workflows are implemented in real-world situations.
During the visit, the participants toured different departments of Khyber Network and were introduced to the operational structure and professional working procedures of a modern broadcast organization. They visited the Central News Room, where they observed the process of news gathering, editorial planning, coordination and bulletin preparation.
The faculty members were also briefed about the functions of the Production Control Room (PCR) and Master Control Room (MCR), gaining a practical understanding of how different technical and production teams work together to take television content from the newsroom to the audience.
Another important component of the workshop was an opportunity for the participants to experience the broadcast environment from the perspective of a television anchor. They also took part in a mock live news bulletin, allowing them to experience, in a practical setting, some of the pressures, coordination and professional requirements involved in live television broadcasting.
An interactive discussion was also held during the workshop, providing the participants with an opportunity to ask questions, share their observations and discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the media industry.
A key session of the workshop was delivered by Mr. Kaiwan Hamid Raja, Executive Director (Khyber Network), CEO of Khyber Digital and Founder of KAMTECH. In his detailed and engaging lecture, Mr. Kaiwan Hamid Raja shared his professional experience and discussed the changing requirements of the media and digital industry. He highlighted the importance of practical skills, technological understanding, creativity and professional exposure for students preparing to enter the rapidly evolving media landscape.
Mr. Kaiwan Hamid also responded to questions from the participating faculty members and engaged with them on various aspects of broadcast production, digital media, newsroom practices, technology and industry requirements.
The workshop emphasized the importance of learning by doing, particularly in media education, where theoretical knowledge can be strengthened through direct exposure to professional environments.
The visiting faculty members appreciated the initiative and expressed their satisfaction with the professional standards, organizational structure and working environment of KAMTECH and Khyber Network. They also welcomed the opportunity to observe professional broadcast practices and explore ways of incorporating practical industry experience into classroom teaching.
The initiative reflects KAMTECH’s commitment to developing stronger links between academia and the media industry and creating opportunities through which educators and students can gain practical exposure to professional media environments.
By bringing educators closer to the actual newsroom, production floor and broadcast control rooms, KAMTECH aims to help universities prepare future media professionals with not only academic knowledge but also the practical skills and industry understanding required in today’s competitive media landscape.
