A Peace Jirga was held in Karak, bringing together senior military officials, lawmakers, and tribal elders to discuss security and stability. The meeting aimed to strengthen unity and reinforce efforts against terrorism in the region.
Addressing the gathering, Major General Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, GOC of the 9 Division, reaffirmed the unwavering resolve to eliminate terrorism. He stated that the fight against extremist elements would continue without compromise. According to him, ensuring peace is a shared duty of both the state and the people. He warned that anyone who challenges the authority of the state or disrupts stability is an enemy of national security.
“The concept of distinguishing between good and bad Taliban no longer exists,” he declared. He emphasized that modern warfare requires greater public cooperation than ever before. To counter extremist threats effectively, he urged communities to stand united with security forces.
The senior officer reassured locals that no large-scale military action is currently planned in Karak or its nearby areas. However, he made it clear that the armed forces remain ready to act whenever necessary. He assured that any threat to security would be dealt with swiftly to root out terrorism.
The Peace Jirga concluded with a collective pledge from all attendees. Participants vowed to work together for lasting stability and ensure that peace prevails in the region.
