Afghan envoy Sardar Ahmad Shakeeb says tensions between Kabul and Islamabad are harmful for both sides and should be resolved through dialogue.
ISLAMABAD: Afghanistan’s ambassador to Pakistan, Sardar Ahmad Shakeeb, has said that the Afghan government wants to resolve all issues with Pakistan through talks.
According to Afghan media, Sardar Ahmad Shakeeb said the current Afghan government’s policy is to settle all matters with Pakistan through dialogue.
He said the issues between Kabul and Islamabad have affected both countries. He added that continued tension has had the greatest impact on people on both sides of the border.
The Afghan envoy said that the problems between the two countries are harmful for both sides. He said such issues damage relations and affect people’s daily lives.
“We believe these issues can be resolved through talks,” Sardar Ahmad Shakeeb said, adding that the Islamic Emirate believes in negotiations.
He said dialogue remains the preferred path for addressing concerns between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Meanwhile, political analysts say that keeping diplomatic channels open can help prevent further escalation between the two neighbouring countries.
Analysts also believe that talks could create new opportunities for political, economic and trade cooperation between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
They said both countries need stable relations for regional peace and economic progress.
