PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Apex Committee has made a crucial decision to dismantle all bunkers in Kurram district. This is part of the efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the Peshawar Corps Commander, the KP Chief Secretary, the Inspector General, and other senior officials also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the committee was updated on the province’s ongoing peace initiatives. The progress of the grand jirga was also discussed. The committee focused on strategies to prevent any future unrest, with special emphasis on disarmament and the removal of bunkers.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi assured the committee that the federation would fully support the peace process in Kurram. He also emphasized that ensuring peace in the region was a top priority. Additionally, he pledged to improve the capabilities of law enforcement agencies in the province.
The committee stressed the importance of continuing dialogue with local residents. This is essential for encouraging the return of weapons. The dismantling of the bunkers is seen as a vital step in stabilizing Kurram and promoting long-term peace.
