Major roads in Lahore and Raiwind have been sealed with heavy containers and increased police presence ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest, causing widespread disruptions to traffic and daily life.
Access routes to Minar-e-Pakistan have been blocked, with containers placed from District Courts to the historical landmark. Key roads such as those leading from Data Darbar, Bhati Gate, and the Railway Station have also been shut down, making it difficult for traffic to flow through. Entry points from Shahdara, Batti Chowk, and Imamia Colony are also closed.
In an effort to prevent public gatherings, the grounds around Minar-e-Pakistan have been flooded with water. Similar security measures have been enforced in Raiwind, where Jati Umra Road at Adda Plot and Multan Road near Manga Mandi Bypass have been sealed off.
The authorities have imposed Section 144 in Lahore, banning public gatherings and rallies until October 8. These preventive steps aim to maintain law and order during the protest, though residents are facing frustration due to traffic congestion and restricted access to key areas.
Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay updated with traffic advisories from local law enforcement.
