The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has lifted the ban on green meters used in solar systems. According to sources, LESCO has issued a notification permitting the temporary installation of bi-directional green meters until October 15.
The notification states that consumers will now receive a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for bi-directional green meters for solar systems. Previously, LESCO mandated the installation of AMI meters starting from July 1, 2024, which led to a significant price increase.
However, due to a shortage of stock at meter manufacturing companies, the supply of AMI meters became impossible. Consequently, the government has decided to lift the ban on green meters.
